Canadian tenor Manrico
Tedeschi studied in Italy with Arrigo
Pola (Pavarotti’s teacher) and Franco Corelli. After performing many roles in numerous opera
houses in Europe, maestro Riccardo
Muti asked him to sing CANIO in I Pagliacci
at La Scala. After this success, Mr. Tedeschi performed RADAMÈS in Aïda
at the Teatro Verdi in Padova,
TURIDDU in Cavalleria Rusticana
with the Bern Opera (Switzerland), DON JOSÉ in Carmen at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, at the Teatro
Giglio in Lucca, at the Teatro
Sociale in Mantova and on
tour with the Teatro Comunale
di Bologna. He was also invited to sing GUGLIELMO
RATCLIFF at the Mascagni Festival in Livorno. More recently, he created the
role of NANNI in La Lupa, by Marco Turtino, at the Teatro Massimo in
Palerma. Mr. Tedeschi also
sung SAMSON in Samson et Dalila
at theTeatro Felice in Genoa, CAVARADOSSI in Tosca, both with
the Opera Lyra (Ottawa, Canada) and with the Opera Ireland,
MAURIZIO in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania and CAVARADOSSI in Tosca in a
Japanese tour with the Teatro Comunale
di Bologna. Upcoming projects for Mr. Tedeschi include performances of VISCARDO in Il Giuramento by Mercadante at the
Festival Wexford (UK) in October 2002, both TURIDDU and CANIO with the New
Jersey State Opera, in February 2003, as well as OTELLO with the Opera Tampa
Guild, Florida, in April 2003.
