OLEG CHMYR (baritone)
Mr. Chmyr was born in Lviv, Ukraine. He received his education from the Lviv
Conservatory and Moscow Conservatory. After preparing for his Ph.D. of Voice,
Mr. Chmyr taught at the Lysenko
(Lviv) and Mussogorsky (Ekaterinburg) conservatories. He has performed leading roles in major opera houses of Ukraine, Russia, and Poland. His opera and concert tours have taken him to France, Spain, Germany, Denmark and Norway. Since 1994, Mr. Chmyr has
performed in numerous American cities including New York, Morristown,
Newark, Washington D.C., Chicago,
Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Miami,
and Northport and the prestigious Newport International Star Festival as well
as numerous performances at Carnegie Hall and Merkin
Hall in New York. His professional consultants have included the
world famous singers, Irina Archipova
(Russia) and Licia Albanese (USA). Oleg Chmyr has also established
himself as a very talented and captivating chamber singer. His extensive
repertory includes vocal works of Western European, Russian and Ukrainian
composers. In May 2000,
Mr. Chmyr prepared a special millennium concert
“European Vocal Miniatures” at the Weill Recital Hall
at Carnegie Hall and also released a CD “European Vocal Miniatures. Mr. Chmyr sang the role of Silvio in
New Jersey State Opera’s 2003 production of Leoncavallo’s
Pagliacci and the Count di
Luna in our 2005 production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore. In
addition to his demanding performing schedule, Mr. Chmyr
also holds a position as Professor of Voice at the County College of Morris in Randolph, New Jersey. Mr. Chmyr was featured on radio
and television in Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Germany. He is currently releasing
a new CD entitled “Songs of Love”.
