ALISON BOLSHOI (soprano)
American Dramatic Soprano Alison Bolshoi
was recently invited to make her debut at the Gran Teatre Del Liceu, Barcelona, in a concert
featuring excerpts from Strauss' Guntram, Reyer's Sigurd, and
Schillings' Mona Lisa. The American dramatic soprano also recently
joined the roster of San Francisco Opera where she covered Senta
in Der fliegende Holländer. In June 2005, Ms. Bolshoi
will be singing the role of Leonore in Fidelio,
with the One World Symphony Orchestra, in New York.
Alison Bolshoi sang the role of Sieglinde in a fully staged production of Wagner's Die Walküre in July 2002, with the Wagner Festival
Orchestra in New York, conducted by David
Gilbert. In April 2002, she sang Senta in a concert
version of Der fliegende
Holländer with West Side Opera in New York, conducted by Roger Malouf, and in June 2001, she sang Brünnhilde
in a concert version of Siegfried, with the Wagner Festival Orchestra,
conducted by David Gilbert. Ms. Bolshoi was a Winner
of the Wagner section of the Liederkranz
International Vocal Competition 2006 and consequently is now sponsored by the
American Wagner Association. She was awarded grants from the Girda Lissner Foundation in 2004,
and the Wagner Society Of New York in 2004 and 2002.
In May 2002, she received an invitation to join the Evelyn Lear and Thomas
Stewart Emerging Singers Program of the Wagner Society of Washington, D.C., and
performed in a concert given by the Wagner Society at the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., in October 2002. Ms. Bolshoi's background includes a degree in Theatre/Film and
several years work as both a Shakespearean actress and musical theatre
performer. She is a former student of H.B. Studios and Uta
Hagen, coaches with Patricia Sage, and is currently a student of dramatic mezzo
Barbara Conrad. Ms. Bolshoi resides with her family
in Montclair, New Jersey. She is represented by
Hubbard Levine Management, in New York.
